Small Recycled Glass Bell Terrariums

Assorted Miniature Orchids, Tropical Plants & Living Moss

Height: 18 cm | Maximum Width: 16.5 cm | Recycled Glass

A tiny tropical forest, beautifully captured in glass.

These delightful little bell terrariums bring the magic of a miniature tropical forest into even the smallest spaces.

Crafted from recycled glass, their beautifully rounded shape creates a charming little window into a living landscape, while the narrow opening at the top allows limited airflow to maintain a balanced, semi-closed ecosystem.

Each terrarium is individually planted and composed by Living Art, featuring its own unique combination of living mosses, miniature orchids, small tropical plants, and natural decorative elements.

Depending on the arrangement, your terrarium may feature delicate miniature orchids, jewel orchids, tiny ferns, creeping ground covers, or other interesting tropical greenery.

Living moss is always an essential part of the landscape, creating that soft, lush forest-floor feeling.

Some arrangements are wonderfully green and densely planted, while others feature little pieces of wood, stones, and carefully positioned miniature plants.

No two terrariums are exactly alike.

Why I Love These

There's something especially charming about a forest small enough to hold in your hands.

These are the smallest of our recycled glass bell terrariums, but their rounded shape still provides a lovely little space for creating detailed miniature landscapes.

They're perfect for desks, bookshelves, bedside tables, or small corners that need a touch of nature.

I particularly love how even the tiniest plants become the stars of the landscape. A delicate fern, a miniature orchid, or a little patch of moss can create an entire world inside the glass.

The recycled glass adds its own character, making each little terrarium feel wonderfully unique.

A Little Ecosystem of Its Own

These terrariums are designed as semi-closed ecosystems, allowing minimal air exchange through the narrow opening at the top.

The glass helps retain humidity, creating a sheltered environment for moisture-loving tropical plants and mosses.

Once established and balanced, they require very little intervention.

Prefer a fully closed ecosystem? A suitable cork or glass stopper may be added on request, depending on availability and the needs of the plants inside.

Light

  • Bright to medium indirect light is ideal.

  • Avoid direct sunlight, which can quickly overheat the glass.

  • Suitable for well-lit offices and indoor spaces away from direct sun.

Water & Moisture

  • Use reverse osmosis or distilled water only.

  • These little ecosystems retain moisture and should require very little additional watering once established.

  • Monitor the moss, plants, and drainage layer to determine when water may be needed.

  • If the drainage layer becomes completely dry or the moss shows signs of insufficient moisture, add a very small amount of water at a time.

  • Water must remain within the bottom drainage layer and must never rise into the soil layer.

  • Avoid overwatering, as excessive moisture can encourage rot and mould.

Because of their smaller size, it's especially important to add water sparingly.

Depending on the plants and conditions in your home, your terrarium may go for months without needing additional water.

Condensation

  • Light condensation, particularly in the mornings and evenings, is normal and healthy.

  • Persistent heavy condensation may indicate excessive moisture or heat.

  • If needed, allow the terrarium to air naturally through its opening until the moisture balance improves.

Temperature

  • Best kept at comfortable indoor temperatures appropriate for the plants in the arrangement.

  • Avoid heaters, fireplaces, direct sunlight, and areas with strong temperature fluctuations.

  • If the glass feels warm to the touch, move the terrarium to a cooler position.

Care & Maintenance

Care Level: Very Low

  • No regular airing is usually necessary when kept semi-closed.

  • Occasional trimming may be needed as plants grow and establish themselves.

  • Small amounts of natural plant decay are part of a healthy ecosystem, but excessive decaying material should be removed.

  • With the right placement and moisture balance, these little terrariums can thrive with very little attention.

Each terrarium comes with a general care guide to help you understand and maintain your little ecosystem.

Each Terrarium Includes

  • A small, rounded recycled glass container (approximately 18 cm high × 16.5 cm maximum diameter)

  • Assorted living mosses

  • A selection of miniature orchids and/or tropical plants, depending on the arrangement

Please Note

The product photographs show examples of our Small Recycled Glass Bell Terrarium collection.

Every terrarium is individually made, so the plant selection, moss varieties, decorative details, and overall arrangement may vary depending on available stock.

As these containers are made from recycled glass, slight variations or small imperfections in the glass may occur, adding to their individual character.

Once your order is placed, we'll share photographs of the terrariums currently available so you can choose your favourite.

Lead Time: If no pre-built terrariums are available, please allow approximately 2 weeks for your terrarium to be specially created and established before collection.

A cork or glass stopper can also be requested if you'd prefer a fully closed terrarium, subject to compatibility, plant requirements, and availability.
