Large Semi-Closed Bell Terrariums
Assorted Tropical Plants, Miniature Orchids & Living MossApprox. 30 × 30 cm
These beautifully rounded glass terrariums are designed to bring a little piece of the tropical forest indoors. Their generous glass bodies create space for lush miniature landscapes, while the narrow opening at the top allows just enough airflow to maintain a balanced, semi-closed ecosystem.
Each terrarium is individually planted and composed by Living Art, featuring its own unique combination of living mosses, tropical plants, and natural decorative elements.
Depending on the arrangement, your terrarium may feature delicate miniature orchids, graceful ferns, jewel orchids, creeping tropical plants, or other interesting tropical greenery. Living moss is always an essential part of the landscape, slowly growing and bringing the entire little world together.
Some arrangements are lush and densely planted, while others feature beautiful pieces of wood, interesting textures, and carefully positioned plants that create the feeling of a tiny forest floor captured in glass.
No two terrariums are exactly alike.
Why I Love These
There's something special about these larger bell terrariums. Their rounded glass shape creates a wonderful view into a miniature world, with enough room to appreciate the tiny details of each plant, moss-covered surface, and natural arrangement.
They are designed to feel calm, balanced, and quietly lush, creating a little piece of living art that continues to grow and evolve over time.
They're also wonderfully low-maintenance once established, making them a beautiful addition to a home or office.
A Little Ecosystem of Its Own
These terrariums are designed as semi-closed ecosystems, allowing minimal air exchange through the narrow opening at the top. This helps retain humidity while allowing the environment to breathe naturally.
Once balanced, they require very little intervention.
Prefer a fully closed ecosystem? A cork or glass stopper can be added on request, converting the terrarium into a more self-contained environment that retains humidity and may require even less frequent watering.

Please Note
The product photographs show examples of our Large Semi-Closed Bell Terrarium collection.
Every terrarium is individually made, so the plant selection, moss varieties, decorative details, and overall arrangement may vary depending on available stock.
Once your order is placed, we'll share photographs of the terrariums currently available so you can choose your favourite.
Lead Time: If no pre-built terrariums are available, please allow approximately 2 weeks for your terrarium to be specially created and established before collection.
A cork or glass stopper can also be requested if you'd prefer a fully closed terrarium, subject to compatibility and availability.
Light
Bright, indirect light
Avoid direct sun, which can overheat the glass
Water
Use reverse osmosis or distilled water only
Add water very sparingly — this setup prefers slightly moist conditions, not wet soil
In most cases, water is only needed every few months, depending on your home environment
Overwatering increases the risk of rot (and sometimes mould), especially in semi-closed setups.
Only add small amounts of water at a time
Do not let water rise into the soil layer
If you can see water pooling above the clay balls/stones, it’s too much , leave it open to dry out a bit
Important: this terrarium has a drainage reservoir (clay balls / stones) at the bottom. That reservoir is there to keep roots out of standing water, but it should not be filled like a water tank.
Condensation
Light condensation is normal and healthy
Persistent heavy condensation means there is too much water or heat
Simply leave the opening uncovered for a short time to rebalance
Temperature
Best kept in normal indoor temperatures
Avoid placing near heaters, fireplaces, hot windowsills, or areas with strong temperature swings
If the glass ever feels warm to the touch, it’s getting too much heat/light
Care & Maintenance
No regular air refresh needed when kept semi-closed
If converted to fully closed, open briefly every few weeks or if condensation persists
Trimming is rarely needed — growth is slow and controlled
If trimming is needed, do small trims and “feed” the terrarium rather than removing lots of plant material (to keep nutrients cycling in the system)
