This open wire terrarium pairs a classic Fittonia (nerve plant) with layered substrates inside a beautifully aged glass vessel wrapped in rustic metal wiring. Simple at first glance, but surprisingly complex once you look closer, a living structure rather than just a plant in glass.
Why I love this one
This terrarium feels honest. The contrast between the delicate leaf veins and the rough, rusty wire gives it so much character. It’s open, breathable, and alive, not sealed away. The Fittonia fills the space naturally, responding visibly to light and moisture, which makes this piece especially engaging to live with.
Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal.
Avoid direct sun, especially midday sun, as this can scorch the leaves and dry the terrarium too quickly.A bright room, filtered window light, or a few steps back from a window works perfectly.
