Open Tulip Glass Terrarium – Restrepia trichoglossa, Bromeliad, Selaginella

Open Tulip Glass Terrarium – Restrepia trichoglossa, Bromeliad, Selaginella

This open tulip glass terrarium centres around Restrepia trichoglossa, a delicate cloud-forest orchid known for its slender growth and expressive flowers. It’s paired with a small bromeliad for structure and contrast, and creeping Selaginella moss, which weaves gently through the composition and creates a lush, forest-floor feel.

Designed as an open terrarium, this piece allows for natural airflow while still maintaining a lightly humid microclimate. The combination of bark, moss, and layered planting creates a balanced environment that supports long-term growth without feeling crowded.

As with all Living Art terrariums, this is a once-off composition and will never be replicated exactly.

Why I love this one:
This terrarium feels like a quiet slice of cloud forest — layered, slightly wild, and full of subtle details that reveal themselves over time.

A refined, living piece for desks, shelves, and calm interior spaces.

    • Occasional light misting supports the orchid and Selaginella, especially in dry indoor spaces

    • Avoid constant wetness around the plant bases

  • Growth notes

    • Selaginella may slowly spread and can be gently guided or trimmed

    • The bromeliad will remain compact and provide long-term structure

    • Orchid growth is slow and responds best to consistency
